NIMS Public Datasets

What is NIMS Public Datasets?

The Center for Narcotics Information Management provides statistics on medical narcotics collected from Narcotics Information Management System (NIMS) to researchers for education and research purposes.

Can anyone apply for NIMS Public Datasets?

National and public institutions, and general research and education institutions mostly use our data. However, anyone who wishes to use statistical data on medical narcotics misuse and overuse can request the Center for Narcotics Information Management.

What kinds of data does NIMS Public Datasets provide?

The Center for Narcotics Information Management provides datasets on manufacture, distribution, and usage of Propofol, Zolpidem, and Appetite Suppressant. Datasets are created from the data collected from NIMS where narcotic handlers report their handling information.

Currently, NIMS Public Datasets provides datasets for three types of drugs; propofol, zolpidem, and appetite suppressant. By 2021, a total of 6 medical narcotics, including prescription opioids, will be provided. By 2022, the datasets will include all narcotic and psychotropic drugs.

How do I apply for NIMS Public Datasets?

You can register and request a dataset at data.nims.or.kr. Once your application arrives, the Center for Narcotics Information Management will review and make a decision. Once approved, the Center will provide the requested data. Provided data must not be used for any purpose other than that for which it was approved for.
